5 Things we wish Marvel Snap would add in 2023

2) A better way to show off your decks

I have a group of friends that I talk about Marvel Snap with. We’re always showcasing big wins, funny losses, and new decks we’re experimenting with. Recently I wanted to show someone a deck I made that centers heavily around the newly added Silver Surfer.

If I use the game’s built-in “Share” button I’ll send my friend this string of text:

Yuck.

I could also try to send a screenshot of it if I want them to see the variants I’ve added. That’ll look a bit better.

But I’d love something a bit more dynamic for showcasing my fancy deck. Pokemon Go actually added a really cool feature recently where you can create a “card” of a Pokemon you own that makes a visibly appealing image to share with people and I’d love to see something like that here.

Also, while I have you here by this image can we talk about how remarkably dope that Black Cat 2099 variant art is? I’m just saying, what a great costume. *chefs kiss*

1) Where’s my goddamn flavor text, Bruce?

If you’re one of the three people that know what I’m referencing there in that section title bless your heart.

Anywho, I am a huge comic dork. MASSIVE. And a lot of my love goes towards the lesser characters. I’m such a sucker for any comic story that dusts off a rarely-used character and does something amazing with them. Slapstick’s usage in the Fifty States Initiative era? Gravity’s usage in the excellent “Legion of Losers” storyline? Absolutely any time they bring back Boom-Boom? I’m on board for all of it.

But Marvel Snap has a goal of slowly bringing in well-known heroes in order to have more tempting season passes. Because of this, they have to scrape the bottom of the barrel at an almost atomic level to make sure they have plenty of cards without using the more marketable people up all at once.

So imagine my surprise when I was playing and I got this boy.

Beg your pardon? I, someone with a massive bookshelf containing over 2K worth of trade paper backs and holding large statues of both Squirrel Girl and Howard the Duck could not figure out who this was.

At the time the game was released and I forced myself to Google “who is Infinaut” I got to “who is In” before Google immediately auto-filled the rest because apparently, I’m not the only one.

So why not do some flavor text? Hell, Second Dinner, if y’all are reading this I got a Creative Writing for Entertainment degree and I’m available. I’ll have that knocked out for ya.

Imagine if you could look at your card, tap it, and have it flip over revealing a story about who that character is complete with a first appearance and maybe a “suggested issue” showcasing their best story. Which, for Infinaut would probably be the same since the dude was in like six issues several years ago.

So there you go. That’s five things I’d love to see from Marvel Snap over the next year that isn’t on their projected map. Obviously, there are other things too, like fixing some of the game’s weirder glitches. Like, imagine my surprise when I pinned Super Skrull, finally saved up 6000 collectors tokens and then found that he was no longer pinned and instead replaced with an edgelord variant of Thor with a meatcape.

Not happy about that.

But here’s hoping we see some of this in the future. And for real, Nuverse, Second Dinner, bring me in for that flavor text. I got it.
