Is Horizon Forbidden West coming to PC?
Horizon Forbidden West is one of Sony’s latest blockbusters, releasing for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in early 2022. The sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, the game continued the adventures of Aloy in a post-apocalyptic version of the United States following a mass extinction caused by a rogue robot swarm.
The game was met with favorable reviews. It scored an 88 on Metacritic, and an 8.0 user score. In December, Guerilla Games revealed plans to release the first story DLC for the game. Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores is slated to release for PS5 on April 19, 2023.
While Horizon is obviously one of Sony’s biggest PlayStation exclusives, there’s hope that it will eventually come to PC. Sony hasn’t announced anything official yet, but there have been rumors and leaks that point to a PC port of Horizon Forbidden West.
For starters, we had this reportedly leaked Sony document that stated Death Stranding 2 was in the works along with Horizon Forbidden West for PC. Now as we know, Death Stranding 2 and Returnal for PC were both announced at The Game Awards this year, so there could be some legitimacy to the document.
There’s also the fact that Sony has been slowly porting its PlayStation exclusives to PC. Horizon Zero Dawn was one of the first PlayStation titles to come to PC. It was released for PC on August 7, 2020. That was about three years after it was released on PlayStation. If that came to PC, then I have to imagine that the sequel will as well. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait three years though.
In recent months, Sony has released Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for PC. The Last of Us Part 1 is slated to come to PC on March 3, 2023. And then, of course, we have Returnal at some point.
For now, nothing official about Horizon Forbidden West on PC has been announced. That could change in 2023, however.
