2023 is shaping up to be one of the best gaming years in memory. There are a lot of console exclusives as well as multi-platform franchises putting out titles this year that it is hard to keep track of them all. With the RPG genre quickly becoming the most active one with released games, we looked ahead to pick out the best and most anticipated ones releasing in 2023.

Below, find the top ten RPGs releasing next year as well as their announced platforms. Let us know which ones you’re most looking forward to as well.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

A44 Games looks to be setting up an outstanding experience with Flintlock. Playing as Nor Vanek, we must protect the city of Dawn from the old gods’ army of the undead after the door to the afterlife has been opened. There seems to be a substantive story and in-depth combat from what we’ve seen so far. The developer’s previous game, Ashen, flew under the radar but did see some praise from both critics and players. We’ll also be able to control her companion, Enki, in battle. A fox-ish like friend, Enki can teleport and assist in damage, allowing for a substantial variety in both melee and magic attacks.

Flintlock will release in early 2023 on PS5, PC and Series S/X with a day one Game Pass release.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

I played the demo of Wo Long earlier this year, and I was immediately pulled into its grasp. The sword-fighting combat was fast and precise, and the addition of magic-type abilities truly brought the game full circle. We got a little glimpse of the story in the demo, and the progress we made while playing will carry over to the game’s full release. Reminiscent of Sekiro a bit in gameplay, enemies respawn upon saving or death, and gained experience will need to be picked up or lost when defeated. Team Ninja has expanded on their work with Nioh, allowing the player a lot more creative freedom in combat.

We’ll need to wait until March 3, 2023, to get our hands on it, as Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will release on PS5, PC and Series S/X with a day one Game Pass release.
