Star Wars Jedi: Survivor made an appearance at the Game Awards this year, and its new trailer showcasing gameplay and now a release date did not disappoint. It checked every box, raised every goosebump, and piqued every interest.

You can watch the trailer of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor here:

HOW COOL IS THAT??!! Using the force to use Stormtroopers as a meat shield? It also looks like we’ll have a fun companion running around with us to do cool flips and tricks with. The game looks exactly like what we would expect a sequel to look like: improved, and polished. We now have dual wielding and grappling to add to our arsenal to become even more lethal than we were before.

There were a couple of things that really caught my eye while watching this trailer, but it was mainly the improvement of the combat that really got me interested. Often, developers will stick to the same mode of combat with a couple of tweaks here and there, without much of an overhaul. The other times, they will completely overhaul the combat system, and rarely does it ever come out as better than it was before.

Here, it looks like the combat system was iterated upon, to make combat more fluid and give you more control over your actions during combat sequences. It also looks like the game is giving players more freedom in how they traverse the world and how they navigate through the levels.

When Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order came out, it was a graphical masterpiece, coupled with incredible story-telling and enjoyable melee mechanics that provided a refreshing challenge. Respawn Entertainment spared no detail in working on making a narrative juggernaut.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Star Wars games, especially ones that work on fleshing out the universe created by the films, TV shows, and novels because it’s a lived-in experience. Cal Kestis is about to embark on another adventure to weaken the Empire, and he still hasn’t been cast in one of the TV shows yet.

If you haven’t played Fallen Order just yet, I recommend you pick it up. They’re always running sales on it, and if you’re like me and have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can play it through EA Play anywhere you can play Xbox.
