Battlefield 2042 is headed to EA Play and Xbox Game Pass this week
Battlefield 2042 is set to join EA Play on November 22. Its arrival will coincide with the launch of Season 3: Escalation.
Getting added to EA Play means those who are subscribers to EA’s monthly service will be able to enjoy the game for free. As a reminder, EA Play costs just $4.99 and includes access to a fairly extensive library of EA-published games as well as game trials for new releases, discounts on new games and other rewards.
Being a part of EA Play also means that Battlefield 2042 will be free to those who are Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate includes access to over 100 games across console, PC, and mobile devices. As an added benefit, Ultimate also includes EA Play membership for no additional cost meaning you’ll also be able to play Battlefield 2042.
In addition to coming to EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, EA is offering all gamers a limited-time free trial. PlayStation, Xbox and PC (Steam) users will be able to play Battlefield 2042 for free on specific weekend dates throughout December. Here is the free access schedule for each platform:
- Xbox: Free Play Days, December 1-4
- Steam: Free Weekend, December 1-5
- PlayStation: Free Access, December 16-23
In other news, Season 3: Escalation will add more content to the now-year-old game. Players can look forward to the new map, Spearhead, which takes the battle to the untamed wilderness of Sweden, featuring semi-automated manufacturing facilities of high-tech weaponry.
Speaking of weaponry, Season 3 will also bring new firearms into the game. The Rorsch Mk-4-Railgun launches incredibly fast projectiles with multiple firing modes for versatility. The double-barreled, semi-automatic NVK-S22 Smart Shotgun is perfect for close-quarters combat. For those who prefer to keep their distance, the long-barreled NVK-P125 Bullpup Pistol will be for you.
There’s also a new Specialist joining the fray. Zain is an Egyptian-born security expert armed with an XM370A Airburst Rifle and capable of immediately recharging his health after eliminating an enemy.
Battlefield 2042 didn’t receive the best reviews upon release but after a year of improvements and added content, it’s probably at least worth checking out for free if you’re an EA Play or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member.
