Kingdom Hearts: The entire Dark Seeker Saga is coming to PS Plus this week
Kingdom Hearts is one of the most confusing series of all-time. I say this even as someone who has played each of the games and watched countless story recaps and explanations. But part of what made the series confusing was that the story was told through multiple games released on different platforms.
Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 were both PlayStation exclusive. Chain of Memories was only available on Game Boy Advance at launch. Birth by Sleep was released on the PlayStation Portable. You get the point. You basically needed every console ever to play through the series in its entirety.
In recent years, Square Enix has made it much easier to play through the series, releasing the games as part of bundles available on multiple platforms.
There are a total of nine games that encompass what is now referred to as the Dark Seeker Saga, or the Xehanort Saga. It follows the battles between Sora and Xehanort as well as other characters caught up in the conflict between light and dark.
And this week, all nine of these games will be available to free as part of the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Game Catalog for November. On Tuesday, November 15th, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts 3 will be playable for PS Plus members. Altogether, we’re looking at nine games that are either playable or can be experienced as HD remastered cinematics.
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX
- Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
- Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories
- Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (HD remastered cinematics)
- Kingdom Hearts II FINAL MIX
- Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX
- Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (HD remastered cinematics)
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue

- Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage –

Once you play through all nine of these games, you can celebrate the breathtaking music of the series with Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, an action rhythm game with over 140 tracks from across the Kingdom hearts series. The story pretty much recaps the entire Dark Seeker Saga but it does also allude to a continued adventure with Kingdom Hearts 4.
