What’s the difference between Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 and Warzone Caldera
Call of Duty: Warzone players will soon have two battle royale spin-offs to choose from. The upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is slated to launch on November 16th, and when it does, the current Warzone will be temporarily taken offline before relaunching as Warzone Caldera. So what’s the difference between the two?
In simplest terms, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 will be reflective of the content in Modern Warfare 2. Its weapons, progression and inventory will all be tied to the newly released Modern Warfare 2.
Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera will exist as a separate game with its content reflective of 2021’s Call of Duty: Vanguard. When Warzone 2.0 launches, the current Warzone will be taken offline for approximately 12 days before relaunching as Warzone Caldera.
When it relaunches, it will remain a completely different and separate experience which means Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2.0 content, including the new Battle Pass and Store Bundles, will not be available. Additionally, 2XP and 2WXP Tokens will not be transferrable between the two Warzone games. There will also be no in-game store; however, COD Points will still be transferable between all games.
Now for a bit of a bummer, Warzone Caldera will not feature the Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep maps.
Warzone 2.0 will obviously be the primary focus for Activision and its studios. Warzone 2.0’s primary map will be Al Mazrah, a massive new map with 18 major points of interest. This map will support both the primary battle royale mode as well as the new DMZ experience.
With Warzone 2.0, players will be getting a new 2v2 Gulas experience, AI combatants, revamped circle collapse behavior, proximity chat, new vehicles (land, air and water) with a fuel and gas station mechanic, and more. For those who prefer smaller battle royale maps, Activision promised “exciting developments” for Warzone 2.0 during future seasons.
To sum it all up, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is going to be the more recent battle royale game with content from Modern Warfare 2. Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera will be the battle royale experience that exists today from when Vanguard was released.
