If the original Overwatch was a game that you considered to be one of your favorites, unfortunately, you can’t play it anymore. Ever since the release of Overwatch 2 on October 4, the original Overwatch has been shut down permanently. Now your only option is to download Overwatch 2 and play the new video game and try to replicate some of those amazing memories you had created from Overwatch. That is if you can get on the server.

Overwatch 2 has been facing tons of server issues since launch which has made the game pretty shaky. However, one of the biggest questions that is asked since the original Overwatch has been shut down is if there is a way to merge Overwatch accounts so that you can get some of your skins and progress back from the original Overwatch. The quick answer is yes there is.

How to merge Overwatch accounts

One of the big new features of Overwatch 2 is cross-progression. That means that no matter what platform you decide to play Overwatch 2 on, you will be able to continue to make progress on your account. In order to do this though, you should go ahead and merge your accounts.

  1. Login to Overwatch 2 on your desired platform. Whatever account is the one you would like to merge; this is the account that you should be logging into.
  2. Scan the QR Code using your phone and follow the prompts that show up
  3. There will be a code that pops up on your console. Input this code on your phone to setup a new Battle.net account or to connect to an existing one.
  4. You will be asked to confirm your account the next time you login to the game. Once you have done that, your accounts will be merged.
  5. You will need to repeat these steps for every console you intend on playing Overwatch 2 with.
  6. Note that you are only allowed to have one console account per platform (1 Xbox, 1 PlayStation, 1 Nintendo, etc… you cannot have multiple accounts on the same platform. Ex: 2 Xbox, 3 PlayStation, 2 Nintendo, etc…)

Once you have merged accounts you will be happy to find out that a lot of your Overwatch gear will be transferred over. This includes achievements, gameplay options, gameplay settings, Hero Gallery, credits, stats, skins, and more.

If you have gone through all the required steps and still realize that you are missing skins or anything else that hasn’t transferred over as of yet, I wouldn’t start to worry. Blizzard Entertainment has dealt with a lot of backlash since the release of Overwatch 2. There have been a ton of players trying to access the game and transfer everything over, so it may take a little bit to get everything in order. Once everything gets sorted out, you should receive all the skins you previously owned from Overwatch.
