Flying

This one was an absolute journey. When I looked up Flying-type Eevee I was expecting a million angelic wings over sky-blue Eevees and the world didn’t disappoint. It just came down to finding the right one. But then. BUT THEN. I came across one so different, so unique, that the sensation of “I want that in a game” was so hard that my loud “F— YES” got my wife to step out of her office to check and make sure I was good. Look at this absolute gem from artist Redballbomb.

Now, they do list the excellently named Propulseon as a Steel and Flying type but I’m willing to ignore the Steel bit as an Eeveelution with dual typing would be blasphemy. So maybe make the jet bits a bit more organic looking. But listen, Propulseon might be a little silly in some regards but look at it. Look in its eyes. Tell me you wouldn’t want this kid at your side in a game. Tearing straight ahead on it’s jetpack like an adorable Rocketeer (ask your parents).

I love it. It’s just a huge change to what you would normally expect and I think that’s what Eeveelutions should come with, that fun bit of surprise that makes it stick out.

Ghost

I’m loving this article even more because every time I look for a new one, it’s a VASTLY different journey than before. Because once again, this was a quest, but this was very different. Finding my favorite Ghost-type Eeveelution required me to go through so much edgelordy over-the-top nonsense that I felt like Lifejournal had a resurgence. But lucky, Goldmouse, who supplied the early Dragon-type also, apparently, made my favorite Ghost-type. AND my favorite Ghost-type name. If you love wordplay, you’ll love…Obliveon.

Like, I fully get that an Eevee evolving into a Ghost-type pretty much means that Eevee dies. I get it. But to have it look like an Eevee celebrating Diá de Los Muertos is brilliant. Like Eevee still retains many of the elements that make Eevee, Eevee while also creating a spectral feel that isn’t scary but still ghostly which I think is perfect for the character.

I want it by my side immediately. I want it to help me. I want to help it. And I want to watch as it finishes its unfinished business and fades from our corporeal plane.

Ground

If there is ever something I’d believe is the reason Game Freak stopped adding Eeveelutions, I think I found it. Ground-type Eevee is IMPOSSIBLE. First off, it seems like, for some reason, everyone wants to turn Ground-type Eevee into a pharaoh as if y’all believe the Egyptians were golems or Earth elementals or something and not humans. It’s doubly frustrating because the Sphinx was like RIGHT THERE and was literally a giant stone thing that could inspire an Eeveelution and y’all are doing nothing with it. But two…I couldn’t really find one I liked that much but at the same time, couldn’t think of what I could do better.

There’s also a lot with wings which makes me REALLY wonder if y’all understand what the ground is.

Anywho, I literally could not find a single one that felt like it represented both ground AND Eevee’s aesthetics. No winners here. Moving on.

Normal

I honestly don’t think there should ever be a Normal-type Eeveelution. And if there is one, it needs to be the final one. For real. Can you imagine finally getting a new Eeveelution and it’s just bigger and still normal? I’m good.

Though, I will say, when the movie Pikachu: The Power of Us was first announced, there was a huge rumor with a ton of fake evidence to show that Riza’s Eevee was going to evolve into a new Normal-type Eevee (or possibly Mega Evolve) and the fan art showed it having color streaks similar to Riza’s and…you know what? I would have kinda loved that.

I can’t find any of it now that it’s long since debunked but look at this picture and just imagine it. And yes, it’s okay that the Eevee in your head is wearing shades.

Alright. Three more left. Let’s check them out on the last page. See you there. And I promise I’ll have three more to show.
