Madden 23 – NFL Week 3 Sim – 1pm Games (Cont.’d)
Continuing our slate of 1 p.m. games, we’ve got the Cincinnati Bengals looking for their first win of the season, while the Ravens try to bounce back from their blown game against the Dolphins last week. We’ve also got an intriguing matchup between the Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans. The Raiders are coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Cardinals, while the Titans got embarrassed by the Bills on Monday Night Football.
Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings
Sims results: Lions 14, Vikings 22
The Vikings rebound from their Monday night loss against the Eagles to defeat the Lions. Justin Jefferson (6 rec., 66 yards) is largely held in check by the Lions’ defense but Dalvin Cook rushes for 68 yards and two touchdowns which is enough offense. Amon-Ra St. Brown continues to torment defenders, racking up 114 yards and a touchdown on seven catches.
Houston Texans at Chicago Bears
Sim results: Texans 9, Bears 27
The Houston Texans are still searching for that elusive first win but it doesn’t come against the Chicago Bears. Justin Fields has his best game of the season, completing 20-29 for 216 yards and two touchdowns. David Montgomery is solid on the ground, rushing for 87 yards and a touchdown.
Las Vegas Raiders at Tennessee Titans
Sim results: Raiders 38, Titans 35
The Raiders get their first win of the season in a shootout against the Titans. Both quarterbacks put on tremendous performances. Derek Carr throws for 405 yards and three touchdowns, while nearly matches him with 363 yards and three touchdowns. Derrick Henry adds another 102 yards and a touchdown on the ground. However, the Titans’ defense can’t stop anything.
Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets
Sim results: Bengals 17, Jets 14
It wasn’t pretty, but Cincinnati Bengals do get their first win of the season. Joe Burrow throws for 338 yards, two touchdowns and an interception but is also sacked three more times.
New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers
Sim results: Saints 24, Panthers 31
Baker Mayfield leads the Panthers’ offense on a two-minute, fourth-quarter touchdown drive to earn the team’s first win of the season. Neither quarterback has a great game as Winston throws for 237 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while Mayfield throws for just 208 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. McCaffrey carries the ball 20 times for 73 yards in a quiet afternoon performance.
Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots
Sim results: Ravens 34, Patriots 27
There would be no fourth-quarter meltdown for the Ravens in this one although they were outscored by the Patriots 14-10 towards the end of the game. Lamar Jackson throws for only 156 yards and an interception, but he does rush for three touchdowns of his own. Making his first start of the season, J.K. Dobbins carries the ball 15 times for 121 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, the Patriots’ offense shows signs of life as Mac Jones throws for 303 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
