PS Plus: Free PS5 and PS4 games for September 2022 revealed
Sony has revealed the next batch of PS Plus titles coming to the PS5 and PS4. For September 2022, PlayStation Plus Essential members — which is the most basic tier — will receive Need for Speed Heat (PS4), Granblue Fantasy: Versus (PS4), and Toem (PS5).
Honestly, it’s not a bad lineup at all.
Need for Speed Heat is the most recent mainline game in the EA-published racing series. The game is set in the open world of Palm City, a fictionalized version of Miami, Florida and its surrounding areas. Despite the Miami inspiration, the environment features mountainous areas and open fields as well.
In lieu of a 24-hour day-night cycle, NFS Heat splits up gameplay by day and night. During the day, you can participate in the Speedhunter Showdown, a sanctioned competition where you earn Bank to customize and upgrade your cars. With these upgrades, you’ll take to the streets at night and partake in illicit street races to build up your reputation which, in turn, gets you access to even bigger races and better parts.
Granblue Fantasy: Versus is a 2.5D fighting game developed by Arc System Works. Solid fight mechanics and a color cast of interesting characters, each with a unique fighting style, helped earn this game high praise upon release. The game also features an RPG mode with an original fantasy story.
Toem, the only official PS5 game, is probably the most interesting game of the batch. It’s got indie vibes as you set off on a delightful expedition through a relaxing landscape. As you explore this hand-drawn environment, you’ll meet quirky characters and uncover mysteries that can only be solved with a photographic eye.
All three of these games will be available for PlayStation Plus Essential members from September 6 until October 3.
In addition to these games, PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members can look forward to even more games, including Deathloop, from Bethesda’s Arkane Studios. This award-winning action-adventure shooter was released exclusively on PlayStation 5 in 2021. If you didn’t get a chance to play it yet, I can’t recommend it enough. Assassin’s Creed Origins, Watch Dogs 2, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Spitfarer: Farewell Edition, Rabbids Invasion: The Interactive TV Show, Rayman Legends and more are just some of the new games coming to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium game catalog on September 20.
