After announcing the two cover stars of NHL 23 on Wednesday, EA Sports is finally ready to reveal the game itself. A full reveal for NHL 23 is set to take place today, Thursday, August 25th at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Best of all, you don’t have to go anywhere. The reveal is being streamed on the EA Sports NHL YouTube channel, which you can watch below! It’s still not for a few hours, but you can bookmark this page or set a notification for when the reveal drops.

Of course, we’ll also have an extensive write-up on any new features in this year’s game. EA has not offered any sort of clues as to what we can expect this year. However, judging by the two cover stars we might be able to expect an expanded selection of women’s teams and gameplay options.

EA officially announced the cover athletes for NHL 23 on Wednesday. Trevor Zegras and Sarah Nurse will both grace the cover.

Zegras is the first Anaheim Ducks player to be featured on the cover of an EA Sports NHL game while Nurse, who plays for Canada’s women’s national hockey team, is the first woman to appear on the cover of an EA Sports NHL game.

The 21-year-old Zegras has played just two years in the NHL, a total of 99 games. He was named a finalist for the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year. Last season, Zegras recorded 61 points (23 goals, 38 assists) in 75 games.

Perhaps more than his stats, Zegras is known for his lacrosse-style “alley-oop” pass. During a game against Buffalo on December 7, Zegras assisted teammate Sonny Milano in one of the coolest goals scored in NHL history. Zegras lifted the puck onto his stick and flipped it over the net, allowing Milano to bat the puck out of mid-air to score. As the league notes, “it’s the only instance in NHL history a goal has been scored with a lacrosse-style pass from behind the net.”

According to EA, NHL 23 will actually include a new feature within the game based on this viral moment.

In addition to his viral assist, Zegras also scored two lacrosse-style goals of his own last season. He’s one of two players in NHL history to score goals in such a way.
