Madden 23: Best teams to rebuild in Franchise mode
Washington Commanders (81 OVR, 76 OFF, 82 DEF, 73 ST)
The Commanders are rated in the middle of the pack in Madden 23 but that’s largely because of their stellar defense. Five of the team’s top-rated six players are on the defensive side of the ball:
- Jonathan Allen (DT) – 92 OVR
- Kendall Fuller (CB) – 89 OVR
- Daron Payne (DT) – 87 OVR
- Chase Young (LE) – 86 OVR
- William Jackson III (CB) – 83 OVR
So how can a team with this much talent on defense finish with a 7-10 record and third place in a bad NFC East? Simply put, their offense is in dire need of help.
It naturally starts at quarterback where Carson Wentz was brought it to attempt to right the ship. He checks into Madden 23 with a 73 overall rating. Most of his important pass ratings are in the upper 70s to lower 80s. While he might be able to win a few games, he’s clearly not the long-term answer in Washington. It’ll be up to you to find the Commanders’ franchise quarterback.
You’ll also probably want to find a young receiver to help Terry McLauren. He’s actually the 2nd highest rated player on the team with 91 overall, 94 speed, 93 acceleration and 97 catch rating. But he’s basically your only weapon on offense.
There’s Antonio Gibson, who comes with a launch rating of 80 overall but I have a feeling that’ll be going down during the season with the weekly updates. The Commanders did draft Brian Robinson Jr. in the third round of this year’s NFL Draft, but as he’s just 72 overall, you can have fun trying to build him up or replace him.
Other candidates for rebiuld sinclude the Seattle Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers. All of these teams are near the bottom of the Madden 23 rating charts. Similar to the Lions and Commanders, they’ve also got very talented skilled players, but they also all have a gint question mark at quarterback. While the Falcons, Panthers and Steelers did draft quarterbacks this year, I don’t think they are definitely the long-term solution. It could be up to you to build them into the face of your franchise or draft someone new.
