Madden 23 ratings: Predicting the Top 5 Wide Receivers
Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams
Cooper Kupp has always been near the top of the wide receiver statistical categories since coming into the league in 2017. But last season, his first with a legitimate quarterback under center in Matthew Stafford, Kupp made a tremendous leap.
Kupp led the league in receptions (145), yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16). Based on previous years’ production with Jared Goff, this kind of production was not a fluke. He’s a legit weapon and a big reason why the Rams won the Super Bowl.
Kupp was one of the receivers who received a payday this offseason, signing a 3-year, $80 million extension with the Rams. Although the Rams signed former Bears receiver Allen Robinson this offseason, Kupp is still the primary receiving threat and he should continue to be the main focus of quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Kupp began Madden 22 with a pedestrian 86 overall at launch. But his performance on the field saw him climb all the way to a 98 overall by the end of the season. While he may not put up these same ridiculous video game numbers, I still think he’ll be near the top of the league in all major receiving categories.
I have Kupp returning to Madden 23 as a top-five receiver but not quite as high as where he finished last year, simply because I don’t think he’ll replicate last season’s stats.
Madden 23 Rating Prediction: 96 Overall
