Madden 23 is set to launch in August and EA’s player ratings reveal is seemingly right around the corner. In anticipation of the upcoming official reveal, we’ve been going through each position to give our thoughts on who should be the top-rated in this year’s game. So far, we’ve already covered quarterback and running back.

Today, we’re looking at wide receiver. With the NFL now a full-blown passing league, wide receiver has become a premium position. Teams are doling out big money to sign high-profile wide receivers.

AJ Brown was traded from the Tennessee Titans to the Philadelphia Eagles where he signed a lucrative four-year, $100 million deal. Former Kansas City Chiefs superstar Tyreek Hill signed a four-year, $120 million deal with the Miami Dolphins. Davante Adams, whom many consider to be the league’s best receiver, went from Green Bay to Las Vegas where he signed a five-year, $141.25 million contract. If you don’t have a top-tier wide receiver, you might as well kiss your playoff chances goodbye.

But big contracts don’t necessarily equate to high overall ratings in Madden 23. So dollar signs aside, here are the wide receivers we believe should have the highest ratings in Madden NFL 23.

Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders

This is obviously a no-brainer. Davante Adams has been among the league leaders in receptions, yards and touchdowns for the past couple of years.

Last season, he was top five in all major receiving categories: 123 receptions (2nd), 1,553 yards (3rd), 11 touchdowns (5th). Adams began last year as a member of the 99 Club and I think he’ll stay there for at least the start of the season.

Of course, the biggest question surrounding Davante Adams is whether or not he can put up these kinds of numbers without Aaron Rodgers. Adams will now have Derek Carr delivering him the football. And while Carr is no slouch, he’s not Aaron Rodgers. We’ll find out very quickly just how much of Adams stats was due to the excellence of Aaron Rodgers.
