Xbox Games with Gold will no longer offer Xbox 360 titles
One of the benefits of Xbox Games with Gold is the free monthly games that Microsoft gives out to its subscribers for free. The games span the various Xbox platforms from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, and the service gives gamers a chance to experience some of the older classics that they may have missed at the time.
The Xbox Games with Gold program started all the way back in 2013 and has been really successful ever since. However, this program is going to be changing slightly in the near future.
Xbox has begun sending out an email to their valued customers that states the following:
"“Beginning October 1, 2022, the monthly games provided to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold members via Games with Gold will no longer include Xbox 360 titles. We have reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog; however, Games with Gold will continue to include exciting Xbox One titles and exclusive savings each month. This will not impact any Xbox 360 games that you downloaded before October 2022. Any Xbox 360 titles that you redeem via Games with Gold before that time are yours to keep on your Xbox account, regardless of whether you continue your subscription. Thank you for being a loyal member.”"
To put this email in easier terms, with all of the new generations of Xbox coming out, it is time that Xbox Games with Gold offers a little more up-to-date video games. The good news is that any Xbox 360 games that you have downloaded thanks to this program are going to be safe and sound. But starting on October 1, Xbox will no longer be releasing free Xbox 360 games as part of the Xbox Games with Gold service.
Nowadays it is very common for Xbox owners to have Xbox Live Gold. That is why this program has been so successful. Until October 1, Xbox Games with Gold will still be offering 2 free Xbox 360 games each month along with Xbox One games.
July’s Games with Gold have already been announced and those games are Beasts of Maravilla Island (July 1 to 31), Relicta (July 16 to August 15), Thrillville: Off the Rails (July 1 to 15 Xbox 360), and Torchlight (July 16 to 31 Xbox 360). You can download each of these games for absolutely no cost as long as you are an Xbox Live Gold member and download them during their respective times.
While this news may not be super impactful to a majority of the Xbox community, it still is a big statement in that we are finally moving away from the older generation consoles. It was only a matter of time before we saw a day like this, and it appears that this day will be October 1, 2022.
