NBA 2K23 announces Michael Jordan as a cover athlete
NBA 2K23 is about to get legendary. If you notice the 23 in NBA 2K23, you may begin to think about all the great athletes in sports who have worn the number 23. But there is none bigger than Michael Jordan himself. NBA 2K announced on their Twitter page that Michael Jordan will be one of this year’s cover athletes, featured on the special editions of NBA 2K23: The Michael Jordan Edition and the Championship Edition.
This makes perfect sense as the greatest number 23 in all of sports is affiliated with NBA 2K23. This will mark the first time since NBA 2K16 that Michael Jordan has seen a cover of a 2K basketball video game. This is also the 4th time overall that he has been on a cover.
These are going to be two unique editions of NBA 2K23. While we don’t know exactly what we can expect from each of the editions, we do know a tiny bit about both of them.
Jordan Challenges are making their return to the franchise. These challenges were last seen back in NBA 2K11. Players needed to recreate special moments from Michael Jordans Hall of Fame career.

In NBA 2K11 there were a total of ten challenges. In NBA 2K23 there are said to be 15 challenges. The ten original challenges will be remastered and upgraded along with 5 additional challenges for gamers to try and recreate from his time with the Chicago Bulls and his time with Team USA.
It was also confirmed that one year of the NBA League Pass will be included with the Championship Edition of NBA 2K23. The NBA League Pass allows viewers to tune into any of their favorite basketball team’s live games on any given night and watch as many hours of NBA basketball that they want. A cool little addition that is surely going to increase the value of an already speculated high price.

As far as any of the other cover athletes for NBA 2K23, we don’t have an official answer yet but should know more very soon. All signs and sources have been pointing to Devon Booker from the Phoenix Suns as this year’s cover athlete. Until 2K Sports makes it official, Michael Jordan is the only announced cover athlete so far for NBA 2K23. Pre-orders begin July 7 with a slated release date for September 9.
