Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak hides an adorable secret
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the newest expansion for the action RPG on Switch and PC, has been out for a little bit now and it’s pretty rock solid. In addition to new features like the ability to swap certain skills in the middle of battle, we’ve got an awesome new hub world complete with a slew of new NPCs randing from adorable tiny princesses, weird sailor men, and a woman who is violently obsessed with pretzels despite the fact that YOU AREN’T ALLOWED TO HAVE ANY. [Seriously, Capcom, as a German, this offended me so much. Fix it.]
In fact, the more you dig around the hub world, the more things you find. From the Palico-driven tiny train that moves things around the city. The hidden Cohoot next at the top of the archway that’s filled with items. The weird goth night that looks like he came out of a Castlevania game. And much more. But the coolest visual in the new hub world is one you can’t even access and I want to share it with you because I want to know everything about it.
So the first thing you’re going to want to do is find this house and then use the camera to look into the window like an absolute creep since you’re not allowed to enter this place because someone at Capcom is a monster (hunter). I’ll walk you through it here. It’s the top floor of the two-story house to the right of the dango hut.
What’s going on in there? What’s the person doing with the monster horn in that machine with the electricity? What’s that green sludge coming out of the other machine to the right? What’s their adorable assistant Palico looking for? Oh, and speaking of the Palico, look what happens when you are on the roof and look in the tiny window.
This nameless Palico has its own little room where it either collects art or possibly even paints.
Seriously. Who are these two? Why is it these two completely unreferenced and unnamed NPCs get their own place complete with remarkably well-detailed machinery? How do we get so much detail as to how these characters live their lives when all the other NPCs never give us this kind of detail. Hell, I dare you to tell me where any NPC thus far even lives. Betcha can’t.
But, long story short, I absolutely love this duo and really hope that we get to find out everything about them in the future.
