CD PROJEKT RED, the developer of Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Witcher Adventure Game are celebrating its 20th anniversary — an incredible feat especially in the gaming industry. In celebration of the company’s 20th anniversary, a dedicated website has been created featuring memories and behind-the-scenes looks at the studio. Players can also submit screenshots, photos, drawings or anything else they can come up with.
CD PROJEKT RED is a video game development company that first launched in May 2002. Initially, the company was just a video game distributor but gained popularity after the launch of the Witcher series. Since then CD PROJEKT RED has released numerous record-breaking games, of which Cyberpunk 2077 is the latest one (although definitely not the best from the studio).
The company thanked the gaming community for support in the 20-year journey. As a thank you, CD Projekt Red also shared details of their future plans, which include:
- CD PROJEKT RED trivia & facts coming at you every Friday
- On Wednesdays, memory lanes with special streams devoted to games
- special birthday Challenges on Mondays & Thursdays
- And Much More
"“Time flies… It’s hard to believe that 20 years have passed since CD PROJEKT RED was founded. The last two decades have been filled with adventure, and we’re so proud to have created video games that players all around the world have enjoyed — not to mention having such a strong, supportive community that has been with us at every step!”“Although our studio was established in February 2002, we’ve chosen to celebrate the anniversary today, July 1st, because on this exact date 20 years ago CD PROJEKT (at that time known as CD Projekt) announced its shift in focus to game development. It’s a special date that marks the beginning of our studio as we know it today. It’s where our journey into making RPGs began, and we think that’s definitely worth putting in the spotlight!”"
Although CD Projekt Red has had it rough of late thanks to the disappointing launch of Cyberpunk 2077, they are still an incredible developer with talented workers. To the company’s credit, they’ve worked tirelessly to fix the problems with Cyberpunk 2077. And although it’s still not what many had hoped, or what had originally been promised, it’s become a solid title.
Perhaps even more excitingly, CD Projekt Red confirmed that the next installment of the Witcher franchise is in development and will be built using Unreal Engine 5. We’re probably years away from its release, but it’s enough to get us excited.
