Madden 23 was officially unveiled earlier this month with a release date of August 19, 2022. There’s currently a beta going on for this year’s game, giving us a hands-on feel for the latest changes, including the new FieldSENSE gameplay mechanic.  But despite the ongoing beta, EA still hasn’t released the official player ratings in Madden 23. The current player ratings in the beta are just placeholders.

We figure EA will reveal the player ratings for Madden 23 at some point next month, possibly mid- to late- July. While some have claimed that the player ratings have already leaked, EA insists those are not accurate.

We all know how fun it is to debate ratings in Madden every year, so I figured while we wait for the official reveal I’m going to give you the players who I think will be the best at each position this year. I’m going to start with the most important position: Quarterback.

You can see the leaked list of top quarterbacks in Madden 23 here, but here is who I feel should be the best-rated in this year’s game.

Before we get into this year’s ratings, let’s first take at Madden 22 and the quarterback position both at launch and post-Super Bowl. At launch, the top five rated quarterbacks were Patrick Mahomes (99), Tom Brady (97), Aaron Rodgers (96), Russell Wilson (94), Lamar Jackson (91). After the Super Bowl, it looked like this: Tom Brady (99), Patrick Mahomes (97),  Aaron Rodgers (95), Dak Prescott (90) and Lamar Jackson (90).

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers was leaked as the second-best quarterback in Madden 23, behind Patrick Mahomes. While I could see that being the case again this year, I don’t think that’s how it should be. In my mind, Aaron Rodgers is the best passing quarterback in the league.

Despite all the drama surrounding Rodgers in Green Bay, he continues to produce on the field. Last season, he threw for 37 touchdowns, which was tied for fourth-most in the league. But get this, he only threw four interceptions. Brady, Stafford, Herbert, Mahomes and Prescott — the only quarterbacks with the same amount or more touchdown passes — all threw double-digit interceptions.

And technically, last season was a down year for Rodgers. In 2020, he threw a league-leading 48 touchdowns and just five interceptions.

I don’t know what EA has against Aaron Rodgers. Maybe it’s the constant playoff disappointment. Maybe it’s because he doesn’t run like Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson. But as a pure passer, he’s the best there is. And it’s time he’s rated as such.

Rating Prediction: 99 Overall
