West Hunt is social deduction with a cowboy twist
I love a good social deduction game. Nothing quite beats getting a group of friends together and trying to figure out which one of us is trying to screw the rest over. I’m hoping West Hunt can deliver on that.
The name of the game is identification when it comes to West Hunt, the upcoming game from developer and publisher NewGen. Your job is to find the Outlaw. He’s somewhere among all the other law-abiding villagers, but it won’t be easy to snuff him. Hear what everyone has to say about who might be who, and clear the suspects one by one.
"“West Hunt is set in a small but bustling village in the Old West, filled with kind-hearted folks from all walks of life. But among them hides a wolf in sheep’s clothing, stirring up trouble right under their noses: the Outlaw! Lucky for this one horse town there’s a Sheriff ‘round these parts, with a loaded six-shooter at their hip. After players receive their role, the deadly game of cat-and-mouse begins!”"
Perhaps you’re like me and fancy playing for the Outlaw side. Well, you can do that too. As an Outlaw you face off against the Sheriffs in a cat-and-mouse style of game. While trying to avoid detection, you have a list of “dastardly deeds” to try and accomplish.
West Hunt is boasting a couple of key game play features. As an Outlaw, you need to dodge good ol’ Johnny Law at every turn. Elements during game sessions will differ every time you play to make it harder for either side to win easily. For example, Sheriffs will be able to find hints in random places each round to help even out the odds.
West Hunt is also not just a 1v1 style of game. You can team up for 2v2 matches as well, play against bots, and even make custom games with unique rules to them.
The social deduction game, with a cowboy twist, West Hunt, is set to release into Steam Early Access on June 14, 2022. A full release announcement will be coming at a later date. If you’re interested you can wishlist the game right now.
