If you currently own an iPod Touch, then you officially own an antique. Apple made an announcement that they will be discontinuing the iPod Touch after 20+ years on the market. Remember that old device called the iPod Touch? You know, the thing you used to play Angry Birds on while you downloaded thousands of songs to listen to while you were working out or at the gym? Yes, that one!

This announcement makes a lot of sense given the fact that not a lot of people use iPod Touches any longer. The iPod Touch came in a time period when smartphones and technology were not what it is at today. Now every phone and tablet has the capabilities of having easy ways to access virtually any songs that you want due to some sort of music service. If you have a Samsung phone, Spotify is a great option to listen to music or even YouTube. If you have an Apple product, they now offer Apple music for as low as $9.99 a month. The possibility of listening to music on the go has surpassed iPod Touches and Apple has finally realized that.

The very first iPod that was ever released was 21 years ago back in October 2001. Since then, the iPod has evolved in many different ways over the past two decades, and the most current version of the iPod Touch was released back in 2019 called the 7th generation iPod Touch. If you are looking to purchase the 7th generation iPod Touch simply because they will not be making any more and you want to have something no longer in production, you are still able to while supplies last. However, once they are gone, they will no longer be made by Apple again.

With the announcement that Apple made regarding the discontinuation of the iPod Touch, it really feels like the end of an era. The iPod Touch was a major breakthrough in technology, but nowadays technology has surpassed the old-time breakthrough and it is time to move on and evolve with the modern-day times.
