Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: Five remastered maps rumored to return
The rumor season for Call of Duty is officially in full force. This is the time of year when speculation really starts picking up, especially now that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has officially been confirmed. There is still no exact release date for when the game is going to be released but based on recent rumors, we are getting a feeling that it may happen sooner rather than later.
One of the rumors that have been circulating about the new Call of Duty installment has been about potential remastered maps coming back from the original Modern Warfare 2 video game. According to @RalphsValve on Twitter, there are five maps rumored to be making their way back. The yare Favela, Terminal, Highrise, Shipment, and Quarry.
If this is true it would make total sense. Favela, Terminal, and Highrise are some of the most popular maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 video game. Adding them into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 would be a great selling point and bring a lot of nostalgia back to the franchise. Plus, with how much technology and graphics have improved over the past handful of years, the maps would look stunning on the next gen consoles.
I think it is safe to say that there is a very high chance that we get some maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 game and if we did not that would be considered a missed opportunity. There is also not going to be a mainstream Call of Duty next year and because of that, we may even see various throwback DLCs that are released throughout 2023.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is widely agreed upon as being the best Call of Duty of all time. It was developed perfectly and there really weren’t a lot of things wrong with that video game. There’s certainly some pressure for Infinity Ward to deliver on the hype.
As we get closer and closer to the release date, we’ll undoubtedly get more news and rumors. I think as of this moment it is looking like Call of Duty fans are going to get the chance to once again play on their maps. Much like many other gamers, I cannot wait to see what Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has in store and how big the shockwaves are when the game is officially released later this year.
