Clash of Clans Spring 2022 update: Clan Capital leaks and what we know so far

Supercell Games has yet to start with the sneak peeks for the upcoming Clash of Clans Spring 2022 update, but it seems we’ve got our first leak. The leak first popped up on a Clash of Clans subreddit and while it has yet to be verified (or confirmed by Supercell), it’s the type of major addition to the game that would explain why this update is considered “different” and, therefore, taking so long.

The leak stems from a Google Ad for Clash of Clans that apparently includes mention of a Clan Capital. The Reddit user who stumbled upon it captured a screenshot that says: “Introducing Clan Capital.”

Another Reddit user mentioned that there was another post about Clan Capitals that had actually offered some light details. Although the post was removed, the Way Back Machine managed to capture the details. According to the now-removed post, the Clan Capital will unlock at as a Clan at level 2. The Clan Capital can also reach level 5 or 6.

Some more updates have been posted to the Clash of Clans leak subreddit. It claims Clan Capitals will grow as your clan grows, meaning you’ll need a dedicated clan to be successful. Perhaps the most interesting part of all this, Clan Capitals will be attacked by entire Clans.

Interestingly, the concept of a Clan Capital has been talked about in the past, including as recently as 2021. When posed with the concept, Darian responded with some concerns that would have to be worked out. While he admitted that it’s a cool idea, he had some reservations:

"What would the overall goal be? What would the benefits be to the Clan? There are a ton of logistics you’d have to look at. Like who would be the caretaker of such a mega base? The leader? What if the leader left or stopped playing? Co-leaders? What if they disagree with how the mega base should be laid out? Would Elders and Members have access to editing the mega base?"

These are all entirely fair questions and I don’t have answers to them. Hopefully Supercell has figured it out because the idea of Clan Capitals in Clash of Clans sounds amazing.

Supercell previously described the Spring 2022 update as “different” and this is certainly a different gameplay feature. One that would place a larger emphasis on Clans.

We still don’t know exactly when the sneak peeks for the upcoming update will begin, but there are now rumors that the update won’t arrive until May. In addition to Clan Capitals, the update should contain other things such as new troops, building levels and more.
