3. Joe Burrow

No one was expecting the Cincinnati Bengals to make it to the Super Bowl, let alone almost win it! The Bengals finished with a record of 10-6, which is good, but they would have liked to see a couple more wins on their resume.

The Bengals made the 2022 NFL Playoffs but were forced to play the Las Vegas Raiders as part of this year’s Super Wildcard Weekend. The Bengals won by a score of 26-19 and it ended their playoff winning drought of 31 years. It was absolutely electric to witness, and Joe Burrow proved that he is here to stay in the NFL.

Joe Burrow also proved that he is capable of performing under pressure as he led the Bengals to Super Bowl LVI and almost came away with a victory.  Burrow is also a fan favorite and I think that can play a big role in who gets put on the cover of Madden 23.

At the end of the day, the cover athlete is a big way to market and sell the video game. Burrow is a very marketable player and people will pay to have the game just because he is on the cover.

No one from the Bengals organization has ever been on a cover of Madden before, but as they say, there is a first time for everything. Having Joe Burrow on the cover of Madden 23 not only is a way to represent the 2021-2022 NFL season in a fantastic way, but also a great reminder as to how the underdogs of the NFL went on this magical run to almost take down Goliath in the biggest game of Joe Burrow’s career. Something people will never forget.
