Cyberpunk 2077 was released back in December of 2020. We are coming up on two years of the game’s official release and there has yet to be expansions released for the video game. And it seems we’ll be waiting a bit longer.

During an CD Projekt Red earnings call on April 14, 2022, CD Projekt Red President Adam Kicinski, stated that the first expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to be released in 2023.  Kicinski discussed a couple of different other things, but something else he made very clear was that the expansions are being worked on by various different teams and that CD Projekt Red is very committed to the Cyberpunk franchise as a whole.

Cyberpunk 2077 had a very rough start as the hype surrounding the game was absolutely massive. I think the biggest takeaways from the earnings call is that Adam Kicinski and the CD Projekt Red team are still fully committed to the franchise. They don’t plan on letting the slow start keep them down and they have much more planned for the Cyberpunk community.

CD Projekt Red are also the creators of The Witcher franchise. A video game franchise that is loved throughout the gaming community. CD Projekt Red also confirmed about a month ago that the next installment in The Witcher franchise is in development. There have been 18+ million copies of Cyberpunk 2077 sold and 40+ millions of copies sold on The Witcher 3. It is no secret that these two video game franchises are the biggest that CD Projekt Red has, and they would never want to jeopardize their two biggest video game franchises.

Over at the CD Projekt Red Investor Relations official page on Twitter, they released a road map as to what the rest of 2022 will look like for them and what they plan on focusing on.

As you can tell, the majority of their plan for 2022 surrounds both The Witcher and the Cyberpunk franchises. It is always nice when developers keep the gaming community in the loop as to what is going on rather than letting everyone sit here year after year wondering is going on.

If you finished playing through Cyberpunk 2077 and have nothing left to accomplish, you are going to have to sit tight for a while longer. If you aren’t done going through and trying to 100% the game, you still have plenty of time to do so. It kind of stinks that an expansion won’t be released till almost three years after the initial release, but something is better than nothing right? That is if it doesn’t get delayed to a later date.
