2. Pittsburgh Pirates

The National League Central Division has two entries on this list with the second team being the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates always seem like they are bad. Last year, the team finished with 61 wins and 101 losses. If you finish with 101 losses in the MLB, you are bottom of the barrel bad. As a professional sports franchise, it is embarrassing to reach the century mark for losses.

Center fielder Bryan Reynolds has a lot of potential. He is 27 years old, but leads the Pirates offense with an 84 overall and an A graded potential rating. While the offense of the Pittsburgh Pirates can really struggle to get things going at times, I think the weakest part of the Pirates organization comes when they are pitching.

It is very rare to say this, but the best pitcher on the Pirates is a closing pitcher. David Bednar is easily their best pitcher at a 79 overall. When your best pitcher is only coming in for a few outs every game, that’s not too good.  That is if they even have a lead for Bednar to come in and close it out. The Pirates do have a starting pitcher at a 79 overall as well in Zach Thompson, but his potential rating is a B whereas Bednar is ranked at an A.

It appears that it is going to be another rough year for the Pittsburgh Pirates franchise. I don’t think that too many gamers are going to be playing as the Pittsburgh Pirates in MLB The Show 22, but if you are lucky enough to play against them, it should be relatively easy to get the win and move on. I wouldn’t imagine that you would be the one to select them as your team to play as.
