3. Cincinnati Reds

If you thought that the Baltimore Orioles being led by an 86 overall player was rough, the Cincinnati Reds best player is lower than that. Joey Votto is an 83 overall, and he is the highest overall on the Reds. Tyler Mahle is the highest overall starting pitcher on the Reds at an 82 overall. Tyler Mahle is better than the Orioles best pitcher, John Means, but the reason why the Cincinnati Reds rank lower than the Baltimore Orioles is their lack of depth.

Joey Votto, Jonathan India, and Tommy Pham are easily the three best position players in the Reds lineup. However, after that they don’t have great hitters. Tommy Pham is only rated a 79 overall, but in a real MLB game he can do damage in key situations. In MLB The Show 22, Pham will only be able to do as good as his overall says.

The Cincinnati Reds pitching isn’t that deep either as they have Tyler Mahle and Luis Castillo. Two middle tier pitchers cannot be the head of the rotation in a modern-day MLB. It is hard for middle tier pitchers to stay consistent over a 162-game season and given their lack of depth on offense, it totally makes sense that the Reds are the third worst team to use in MLB The Show 22.
