3. Houston Astros

The Houston Astros coming in as the third best team in MLB The Show 22 shouldn’t come as a major surprise to most people. After all, the Astros did make it to the World Series last season before they were dispersed by the red-hot Atlanta Braves. No matter who was making to the World Series last season, no one was getting past the Atlanta Braves. The Braves just had a certain feel to them.

The Houston Astros won the A.L. West last year with a record of 95-67. No one really knew what to expect this year after the offseason was rumored to be a rough one with most of their star players’ contracts expiring. However, the Astros have brought back almost their full roster from last year without the notable name Carlos Correa who went to the Minnesota Twins. Even without Correa, this Houston lineup is very lethal.

Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez, and Alex Bregman are the three Astro pieces that are able to glue everything together in terms of offense. Altuve and Alvarez are a 92 and 90 overall, respectively. The Houston Astros are a top 10 team in every category, except speed. However, even in speed they are ranked 14th, which is still above average.

Something else to take note of is they have a really good closer in Ryan Pressly. Pressly is a 89 overall and while he doesn’t quite break the 90 overall mark, he still has a pitching arsenal that can put away games behind other great pitchers such as Justin Verlander and Lance McCullers Jr. The Houston Astros are still being viewed at as the villains of the MLB ever since their sign stealing scandal in 2017, but I think we can all agree that they have an elite and powerful roster.
