It is no secret as to how successful Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass has been since its release in 2017. Xbox Game Pass has generated millions of subscribers over the past 5 years, offering gamers hundreds of different video games at their disposal for only $9.99 a month.

There are currently two versions of the Xbox Game Pass that you can purchase monthly. You can purchase the basic subscription service for $9.99 per month. The basic $9.99 version comes with over 100 different video games in the database that you can play whenever you want for just that one monthly payment.

There is also Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which costs $14.99 per month. You get everything that comes with the $9.99 subscription and more which includes Xbox Game Pass for Console, PC, EA Play access, and online multiplayer. In my opinion, the $14.99 option is way more worth it for the extra video games you are get through EA Play access and the Xbox Live subscription that comes with it.

A report from Windows Central came out that Microsoft has been wanting to release a family plan subscription option to their Xbox Game Pass. However, Microsoft just couldn’t release a new family plan subscription without having to work out certain issues. There is a lot that goes into something like this and it appears that Microsoft has been working out these issues and are set to release a family plan subscription option later on this year.

It seems like in the Modern Day Era, everything is a subscription service. There is Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime video, Apple TV+, Paramount Plus, Disney +, HBO Max and the list goes on and on. With all these subscription services floating around, it is a common theme that users love to share their accounts with others so that not everyone has to buy a subscription to the streaming service. There really is no way to do that with the Xbox Game Pass, but now there will be once Microsoft launches the family plan.

The family plan will reportedly cost a little bit extra but will allow access for five gamers to play games across of the entire library the Xbox Game Pass has to offer. There is no official price point or release date confirmed for this new family plan, but what we do know is that the price will be cheaper than buying five different Xbox Game Passes.

Microsoft already has a Family Account system that is uses for Microsoft 365 Family that they will use to integrate into the Xbox Game Pass to make the sharing future a little bit easier to share. Microsoft hasn’t officially came out and confirmed all of these details, but it seems like everything is ready to go and we are just waiting on Microsoft to pull the trigger.
