Fortnite: No build mode could become permanent
One of the most iconic and controversial features in Fortnite is building. But at the start of Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2, building was removed as part of the new season’s storyline.
In place of being able to build, an Overshield was added, giving you an extra barrier of health. This is to balance out the fact that you aren’t able to build to get away from any threats that you come across.
However, the building feature is not completely removed from Fortnite. If you play Arenas or any competitive game modes, building is still enabled.
While it was speculated that not being able to build was only going to last a short period of time, it might actually become permanent. Fortnite dataminers have done some digging and found evidence that not being able to build is something that appears to be sticking around. According to the HYPEX on Twitter, there are two pieces of evidence that supports not being able to build sticking around longer than people have expected.

Being able to enable no-building game modes after the limited time event expires and changing some of the loading screens to includes tips that state “In modes with building enabled…” is seemingly proof that this can become a permanent thing.
This doesn’t mean that just because the option is available for Epic Games to enable and disable building doesn’t mean that they will, but that doesn’t mean this is a limited time event either. Epic Games can also be waiting to see what the consensus is from Fortnite fans to see if they really like the no-building feature or if they want to see it return. If Epic Games includes a permanent no-build game mode, I think that would be completely fair.
@TweaBR on Twitter released an interesting photo regarding some of the rumored no-building game modes. @TweaBR is a very reputable Fortnite leaker and that is why the photo that he posted is attracting so much conversation. @TweaBR also commented on his post that there will be a Solos, Duos, Trios, and Squads no-building game mode. This isn’t the worst news and I think that it was only a matter of time before Epic Games experimented with no-building in Fortnite.
A majority of Battle Royale video games don’t have the building mechanic integrated into the game. Building is what separates Fortnite from other Battle Royale video games. However, it appears that Fortnite is going to be experimenting this Season and we shall see if gamers are going to enjoy these new changes or hoping that things go back to the way they were before.
