Elden Ring: How to acquire and activate all seven Great Runes
Malenia’s Great Rune (Attacks dealt after taking damage recover HP)
In order to acquire Malenia’s Great Rune, one must travel to Miquella’s Haligtree. Here you will be tasked with trying to defeat Malenia, Blade of Miquella. After defeating Malenia, the Great Rune is all yours and it has a nice effect that is added to your character once it is activated. Attacks that are dealt after you take damage with recover HP.
However, just like any other Great Rune, it needs to be activated first. Malenia’s Great Rune can be activated at the Isolated Divine Tower. The Isolated Divine Tower can be reached by taking the waygate from the Divine Bridge and the Divine bridge is available via the Tower of Return.
Radahn’s Great Rune (+15%HP, +12.5%FP, and +12.5% Stamina)
Starscourge Radahn can be found through a portal at Redmane Castle and is not going to be an easy Demi-God to take down. He will battle and battle until he physically has nothing left to give. Defeating Radahn will come with a little bit of satisfaction. Besides the 70,000 Runes that he drops as a reward, you also receive the Great Rune that he was guarding.
Restoring power to this Great Rune will take a little bit of extra time, but for the boosts it grants you, it is well worth the time and effort. Power can be restored at the Divine Tower of Caelid. In order to reach this tower, you must head northeast from the Dragonbarrow West Site of Grace. This is a massive tower located in central Dragonbarrow. This tower can only be accessed by using ledges and ladders on the sides of the tower.
Once this Rune is activated, you must use a Rune Arc which activates the Great Rune until you die. Rune Arcs are items you can farm from Rats and Giant Rats.
Morgott’s Great Rune (Greatly increases max HP)
Morgott the Omen King stands in your way between a great increase in max health. Morgott is found in Leyndell Royal Capital. 120,000 Runes and Morgott’s Great Rune are the two biggest rewards for taking down this beast. This Great Rune can be activated at the Divine Tower of East Altus. This Divine Tower can be found after the Forbidden Lands elevator in the Capital Outskirts.
