If you’re looking for Cubone in the first Pokemon GO Spotlight Hours in March, you’ll be happy to know that Cubone can be Shiny in Pokemon GO. Here’s everything you need to know.

Can Cubone be Shiny in Pokemon GO? How to find Shiny Cubone in March Spotlight Hours

Spotlight Hours happen every Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. in your local time. For that hour, a particular Pokemon will be in the Spotlight and will appear more frequently. In addition, you get some other bonuses. It’s like a happy hour for Pokemon GO.

March 1’s Spotlight Hour will feature Cubone. You’ll also get double Candy for transferring Pokemon.

Unlike Community Day events, Spotlight Hours do not introduce a Shiny version of the featured Pokemon. It would need to have already been released in Pokemon GO. Luckily, Cubone is available as a Shiny.

Just because Cubone can be Shiny doesn’t mean it’ll be easy to catch. Spotlight Hours do not increase the rate of finding a Shiny. According to The Silph Road, you’ll be fighting against either the regular Shiny rate of one in every ~500 encounters.

Shiny Pokemon also don’t appear on the map as Shiny. You’ll need to engage every Cubone you see to determine if they’re Shiny.

You’ll know you’ve found a Shiny if the Cubone is a different color. A Shiny Cubone has olive green skin instead of brown.

The Shiny Cubone will also have a sparkle over its character model when you encounter it, and another sparkle by its nametag.

Unfortunately, Cubone can not evolve into Alolan Marowak at this time. It can only evolve into the regular Marowak, which is inferior in stats and performance to the Alolan variant.

If you’re collecting Shiny Pokemon, you’ll have to be lucky to find a Shiny Cubone during Spotlight Hours. Otherwise, I don’t think it’s worth all the effort.
