Elden Ring: How to respec your Attribute Points with Larval Tears
Elden Ring is an fantasy action RPG and in true “Souls” nature, it provides you with plenty of freedom to build your character to fit your preferred playstyle. However, you may discover midway through your game that the build you’ve been doing isn’t quite what you wanted.
Maybe you’re melee-oriented and decide you’d be better off with magic. Or maybe you found a really awesome sword but lack the strength or dexterity to wield it. While it’s possible to farm for runes and raise your attributes to the required level, doing so can be a bit of a grind later in the game when leveling takes a ton of runes. You may be better off respeccing. Or as Elden Rings refers to it, “Rebirth.”
How to Respec in Elden Ring
You can unlock the ability to respec your attribute points fairly early on in the game; however, it does require you defeat the second main boss, Rennala, the Full Moon Queen.
Rennala is located in the Raya Lucaria Academy (in Liurnia), which requires you find the Glintstone Key for admission. You can obtain the Glintstone west of the Academy. There’s a giant dragon sleeping in front of it, so you can try to sneak past it or try and defeat the dragon to grab the key.
Once you have the key, return to Raya Lucaria Academy and defeat Rennala. After you beat her, you’ll be rewarded with the Great Rune of the Unborn, which is “used to perfect rebirth.”
Speak to Rennala and she will provide you with the opportunity to respec your attribute points. However, you need a Larval Tear.
Where to find Larval Tears
The easiest way to obtain Larval Tears is to buy them. You can purchase them from the Abandoned Vendor at Siofre River for 3,000 Runes. The Abandoned Vendor is located in an underground area of the Siofre River Well structure.
You can also find Larval Tears from the Giant Crayfish in the Fallen Ruins of the Lake. There is also one located in the Village of Albinaurics. Specifically pass through the poison-filled area near the lake until you reach the road. Follow that road to discover a crypt and you’ll find the Larval Tear nearby.
