Elden Ring: How to activate the Grand Lift of Dectus
Elden Ring is an open-world adventure where you’re basically free to go anywhere in the game you want, as long as you can figure out how to get there. As you travel north of Liurnia, you’ll probably come across the Grand Lift of Dectus. This takes you to the Atlus Plateau; however, you must first activate it.
Elden Ring: How to activate the Grand Lift of Dectus
In order to activate the Grand Lift of Dectus, you’ll need to find the right and left Dectus Medallions. I actually came across the left one by accident early on in the game, then eventually found my way around the Grand Lift before finding the second half of the medallion. So there are clearly different ways to go about exploring Elden Ring.
Left Dectus Medallion location
This will probably be the first medallion you find because it’s in a relatively early part of the game. The left Dectus Medallion is located in Fort Height, on the east coast of Limgrave.
Run into the fort and head up the stairs on the left. Take the entrance into the tower and climb up the ladder. The medallion is stored in a chest.
Right Dectus Medallion location
The Right Dectus Medallion is located in Forth Faroth in Caelid. This is in the western portion of the map, slightly beneath the Minor Erdtree. This area is a little more difficult so proceed with caution.
Head into the fort and run towards the ladder (look for the light). Be careful though as there is poison and flying mobs that do a ton of damage. The medallion is located in the chest.
With both pieces of the Dectus Medallion, you can now return to the Grand Lift of Dectus and activate it.
Alternatively, you can still reach the Atlus Plateau by going the long way around the lift. If you look on the map just north of the lift, you’ll see a dark area and a little dark circle with a tinge of orange. You have to jump down a bunch of stones to safely reach the bottom of the ravine. Or you can fast travel to the entrance of the Academy of Raya Lucaria and ride there. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you enter The Ravine.
From there, you’ll come across some wooden structures built up the cliff ahead. Start climbing. You’ll have to defeat a series of enemies on the cliffside, including a boss fight against Magma Wyrm Makar. Once you defeat that boss, you’re in the clear! Take the elevator to reach the Atlus Plateau.
