Madden 22: One Super Bowl LVI player should join the 99 club
It is hard to believe that Super Bowl LVI has already come and gone. For the second straight year, EA’s Madden predicted the wrong outcome of the Super Bowl.
The Madden 22 Super Bowl simulation predicted that the Bengals would beat the Rams by a score of 24-21. This however was not the case. It was a very entertaining Super Bowl from beginning to end and no one really had any feel for how the game was going to end up. While the Rams took a 13-10 lead in halftime, it wasn’t a pretty second half for the Los Angeles Rams as a whole.
The Cincinnati Bengals flipped the script in the third quarter and took a 20-16 lead all the way down to less than two minutes to go in the game. After the two-minute warning in the fourth quarter, it was officially the Stafford/Kupp show. Matthew Stafford found Cooper Kupp for a 1-yard touchdown with 1:25 remaining in regulation. That would ultimately turn into the game winning touchdown and secure the Los Angeles Rams their second franchise Super Bowl victory.
Cooper Kupp ended up receiving MVP honors of Super Bowl LVI and that is with great reason. Not only did he catch the game winning touchdown, but he also had another touchdown catch earlier in the game.
Kupp had an immaculate performance during Super Bowl LVI and is one of the best receivers in the NFL today. Oddly enough, when it comes to Madden 22, he only has a rating of 97.
After the performance that Cooper Kupp displayed to the whole world last night, I think it is time to give him the honor of being in the Madden 99 club. Kupp is also the best receiver in the NFL when it comes to play after the catch.
EA Sports have already made an addition to the 99 club in Madden 22 after Tom Brady announced his retirement. It is not like they can’t do it again. And for what it’s worth, Kupp did get a boost in the Ultimate Team portion of the game.

The other thing that EA Sports may be waiting to do is adding Cooper Kupp to the 99 overall club for Madden 23. Since the Los Angeles Rams won Super Bowl LVI, I have no doubt in my mind that they will be one of the highest rated teams in Madden 23. Every one of their top players should get some sort of boost in Madden 23 given that they are the reigning Super Bowl Champions. EA could be waiting to give Kupp that honor in the next video game, but there really isn’t a better time to do so than right now.
Madden 22 still has so much life left. If Madden 23 follows the same release pattern as prior Madden video games, then we can expect a release on it sometime in August. That being said, Madden 22 would still have roughly a six-month life span to go. That is plenty of time to make mid-year updates and keep the current video game up to date as much as they can. Even though he should be a player that joins the Madden 99 club in Madden 22, I have no doubt in my mind that Cooper Kupp will be a 99 overall in Madden 23.
