Super Bowl LVI: EA’s Madden 22 sim predicts Bengals win over Rams
EA’s annual Super Bowl simulation using its Madden NFL franchise was conducted this week. Using the most recent Madden 22, the game predicts the Cincinnati Bengals will win Super Bowl LVI over the Los Angeles Rams by the close score of 24-21. If true, it would be Cincinnati’s first-ever Super bowl title.
With NFL legend Marshawn Lynch “envisioning” how the game will be played out, we get a glimpse of how the big game could play out.
The simulation predicts the Bengals to enter halftime trailing 14-7 with Rams running back Sony Michel and wide receiver Cooper Kupp both scoring touchdowns. For the Bengals, standout rookie Ja’Marr Chase scored a touchdown.
It was another second half comeback for the Bengals though starting with a pick six by cornerback Eli Apple. Stafford’s interceptions would tie the game at 14 apiece.
To start the fourth, the Bengals would take the lead on a Joe Burrow touchdown pass to Tee Higgins. The Rams would answer with a touchdown from Stafford to Odell Beckham Jr.
In the end, Joe Burow, aka Joe Brrr, would lead his team into field goal range, creating yet another heroic moment for kicker Evan McPherson who would, of course, secure the historic win for the Bengals franchise.
Can Madden 22’s Super Bowl LVI simulation be trusted?
EA claims Madden to be one of the most trusted projections for the Super Bowl, and the franchise actually has quite a decent track record. Dating back to Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004, Madden has gone 11-7 in its predictions, including a perfect prediction for Super Bowl XLIX which saw the New England Patriots win over the Seattle Seahawks, 28-24.
EA’s prediction was wrong last year. The simulation called for the Chiefs to repeat as champions; however, the great Tom Brady had other plans. The GOAT would earn his seventh Super Bowl ring, leading the Buccaneers to a franchise second title.
Will Super Bowl LVI play out like this?
The LA Rams enter Super Bowl LVI as heavy favorites and while they are technically the away team for the game, it’s being played in their home stadium. But the Bengals are solid on the road this season.
Anything can happen during the Super Bowl and we’ve certainly seen some wild finishes in the past. Super Bowl LVI will take place at SoFi Stadium on February 13 with kickoff slated for 6:30 p.m.
