5. Traveler (Geo)

I’m always looking for a way to use the Traveler in any capacity. Geo Traveler has a unique ability to create several Geo Constructs at once, maximizing the potential of Zhongli’s Stone Stele.

Their Elemental Burst Wake of Earth creates four stone walls around you. Zhongli’s Elemental Skill, Dominus Lapidis, creates a Stone Stele that resonates with other Geo Constructs, like Geo Traveler’s stone walls, pulsing Geo damage in the area around the resonating structure.

Putting the Stele directly in the center causes all four walls to resonate, creating an impressive field that pentuples the Stone Stele’s damage output. This gets even stronger combined with the Geo Elemental Resonance and the Jade Shield’s own Resistance debuff.

4. Albedo

While Zhongli is used primarily for his Shield, his most iconic attack is his Elemental Burst, Planet Befall. It deals heavy Geo damage and Petrifies enemies in their place. Albedo serves as an enabler for Zhongli, providing a steady stream of Geo Particles to fuel Planet Befall.

Like with Geo Traveler, you’re still getting the powerful Geo Resonance and some additional damage from the Solar Isotoma that resonates with Zhongli’s Stone Stele.

3. Hu Tao

While Zhongli is great at protecting any DPS attacker, he’s especially useful for Hu Tao. Hu Tao uses HP as a resource, requiring a portion of her health to activate her Elemental Skill and gaining a sizable attack bonus when she’s under half health. The Jade Shield ensures she doesn’t fall when you’re at low health.

With the Shield, you obviously no longer need to dodge enemy attacks. Hu Tao is especially stamina dependent; animation canceling her Charged Attacks is one of her best combos. Zhongli makes Hu Tao more comfortable to play.

2. Ganyu

Another type of character Zhongli is especially good at protecting are Bow users who use their Aimed Shots, like Ganyu and some builds of Amber. Getting hit by an attack while charging an arrow causes your character to get knocked back, interrupting your Charge. The Jade Shield ensures you always get your attacks out.

Xiao is unique as an Anemo DPS, but that specialty comes with some caveats. Anemo is used as a Support element with the Viridescent Venerer Artifact set, lowering the resistance of enemies by the element Swirled. You can’t Swirl Anemo with Anemo, so Xiao’s options for buffs are somewhat limited.

Zhongli’s Jade Shield lowers the Elemental and Physical Resistance of enemies around the wearer. It’s one of the only ways to lower Resistance to Anemo. Xiao also uses HP as a resource, so the less damage you can take the better.
