Ganyu is one of Genshin Impact’s best DPS units. She has the highest damage potential in the game, but you’ll need to kit her with the right build and more importantly have the right team comps to make the most of her. Here are the best characters to pair with Ganyu.

Honorable Mention: Support Ganyu

Ganyu is best served as a main DPS, as her Frostflake Arrows feature high scaling. You can also use Ganyu as a Cryo Support with her Elemental Burst, Celestial Shower. It can enable perma-Freeze teams with Tartaglia or Mona, and can also provide Cryo to enable Melt for Pyro DPS units like Diluc, Hu Tao, Klee or Yoimiya.

5) Xingqiu

Ganyu’s consistent Cryo damage from her Frostflake Arrows plays great with Hydro characters, especially ones like Xingqiu who can apply Hydro at a distance. With Xingqiu’s Elemental Burst on, you can permanently freeze most enemies as you launch Frostflake Arrows.

4) Diona or Zhongli

Frostflake Arrows are Ganyu’s main source of damage. You have to hold out the Charged Shot longer than other Bow users with Ganyu, so getting hit is even more annoying as you lose your Charge progress. Play around this with a strong Shield.

Zhongli is the best for this, as his Shield has the highest durability in the game. It also gives a generic Resistance debuff to enemies nearby.

Diona gives extra utility as she can generate Cryo particles to help Ganyu get her Burst back. It also ensures her Energy is topped up to fuel either Hamayumi or the four-piece bonus of Shimenawa’s Reminiscence.

3) Xiangling

One of the best ways to boost Ganyu’s damage is to reverse-Melt, that is clearing Pyro conditions with her Frostflake Arrows. Xiangling, especially at Constellation 4, can provide consistent Pyro damage from her powerful Elemental Burst.

As the Pyronodo spins clockwise, strafe the enemy with Ganyu counter-clockwise to maximize hits.

2) Albedo

Ganyu and Albedo is a favorite combination of mine. Albedo’s Elemental Skill Solar Isotoma creates a field that deals a coordinated Geo hit when an enemy inside it is hit. With Ganyu’s Frostflake Arrow, you can generate tons of Crystallize reactions and gather Shields to protect her.

The Isotoma also has a weird “elevator” function that can sometimes get in the way, but with Ganyu you can use it to gain a better vantage on enemies around while evading most attacks.

1) Venti or Kazuha

These two serve similar roles with Ganyu. You can either swirl Pyro to help Ganyu reverse-Melt, or Swirl Cryo to debuff enemy resistance with the four-piece Viridescent Venerer set. Venti is better at grouping enemies for Ganyu to fire at, but

Kazuha

has an advanced technique that can be even stronger.

Swirl Cryo with Kazuha’s Elemental Skill Chihayaburu to pass a damage bonus to Ganyu, and then Swirl Pyro with his Burst to provide a steady source of Pyro for her to reverse-Melt.
