Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies has brought back the classic Zombies map, Shi No Numa, but not in a way that you might think. If you are looking to load up Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies and choose the map Shi No Numa to play with a group of your buddies, then you are going to be sadly mistaken. Instead, there is a little bit of an easter egg process that goes into accessing this classic map.

Call of Duty: Vanguard just received a Zombies update called “Day 115.” Day 115 is a mid-season update that pays tribute to Element 115 which is what started the Zombies outbreak all the way back during Call of Duty: World at War. Day 115 is also known as the date January 15. With January 15 just around the corner, you can now play on Shi No Numa in honor of that day.

How to unlock Shi No Numa in Vanguard Zombies

If you are wondering how you access Shi No Numa in Vanguard Zombies, the first step you are going to want to take is loading up the map Der Anfang. From here you are going to want to play through the mode as you usually would do until you unlock access to Von List’s Office and then finding the new portal. When you walk through this new portal, it will take you to the classic Zombie map Shi No Numa, where you will begin a new objective called “Void.”

Void is basically like how old time Zombies used to be played. Progress through round by round and Pack-a-Punch your weapons as you plow through waves of Zombies as you traditionally would. After completing three rounds on Shi No Numa, you will be faced with the choice to flee or survive. If you choose to survive then you will be granted a 5000 Essence bonus and will continue to be granted this bonus every three rounds completed. If you are able to make it through twelve rounds or more, you’ll be granted a unique reward that prevents your Perks from dropping below Tier II whenever you go down for the rest of the match. If at any point you choose the flee after three rounds, you will go back to Stalingrad where you are able to upgrade your Perks and Covenants. Luckily the portal will remain open for the remainder of your Zombies run so you are able to return to Shi No Numa at any given time before you lose the run.

A Sacrificial Heart is also something that is earned every three rounds successfully completed in the void. These Sacrificial Hearts are something that will be helpful to you if you are looking to make a deep run. You can use these Sacrificial Hearts to upgrade your artifacts if you can successfully escape back to Stalingrad.

Another cool feature that is being added with this Day 115 update is the addition of new camos every time you decide to Pack-a-Punch your weapons. When you decide to Pack-a-Punch your weapon, it will come out with a new camo that makes it easier to set it apart from the base version of the weapon. Your weapon will change its camo appearance each time it is upgraded only up to Tier III. It is the little additions like these that makes the Zombies game mode even more interesting.

Day 115 has always been a special day for Zombies fans and the honoring of that day came a little bit earlier this year and the return of a Zombies classic is a great addition to Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies. If you miss the way Zombies used to be played a handful of years ago, this is a great way to play old school Zombies in a modern-day Call of Duty video game.
