New PS5 and PS4 games coming in December 2021
With the delay of Horizon: Forbidden West, it unfortunately means there’s no blockbuster exclusive for PlayStation this holiday season. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot to look forward to playing on your PS5 or PS4 this December.
From the highly anticipated expansion for Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker to the console release of the social deduction party game Among Us, here are some of the new PlayStation games set to release in December 2021.
Up first is Solar Ash, a 3D platformer from developer Heart Machine (best known for their 2016 game Hyper Light Drifter). This is a game we’re especially excited about as it features colorful and fast-paced traversal. In the game you play as Rei, a speedy Voidrunner who is trying to save her homeworld from a huge black hole called the Ultravoid.
Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is the fourth expansion for Square Enix’s popular MMORPG and will see players confront the Garlean Empire threatening the players’ homeland. In addition to the new story and areas to explore — which of course will be filled with fun an interesting new tribes and characters to meet as well as dangerous threats to overcome — Endwalker will introduce two new jobs; Sage, a healer, and Reaper, a DPS. There’s also new changes to the battle system, including a raised level cap that will open up new gameplay elements and new actions for older jobs as well. There’s a new high-end raid, Pandæmonium, new dungeons, and new small scale PVP content as well.

As for me, I use the holiday season as a way to catch up on older games that I didn’t get a chance to play throughout the year. That means Spider-Man: Miles Morales (I know, I’m really late to the party) and Returnal, both of which I got on sale during the PlayStation Black Friday sale.
