Call of Duty: Vanguard: Shotguns and other nerfs coming

There is nothing more annoying right now than turning a corner in Call of Duty: Vanguard just to be met with a shotgun that kills you in one hit. There have been quite a few complaints about Call of Duty: Vanguard, but this is one of the bigger ones so far. If you play on the smallest map in the game, Das Haus, shotguns can be a real pain in the behind.

There is a video circulating online that shows a player getting a V2 Rocket in 33 seconds on Das Haus by only using a Shotgun. That is 25 kills in 33 seconds to obtain that V2 Rocket. That is absurd. If you break it down, that is almost 1 kill every second.

I don’t think that Sledgehammer Games were expecting the shotguns to be overpowered as much as they have turned out to be. While all the shotguns have been very overpowered so far, the Combat Shotgun is perhaps the most deadly one of them all. Ultimately, making it virtually impossible to compete with. After the video from @Zexafy surfaced on Twitter, Sledgehammer Games responded to the post saying “We’re here to perform a shotgun exorcism.” with a GIF that said “It’s time for nerf.”

There was no exact time frame on when this nerf is expected to take place, but one can only guess it will happen sooner rather than later. There have also been some other weapons that have been in talks to become nerfed, those being the STG44 and the MP40. These two guns are the best in their class category. They are both so powerful and does not have very much recoil. I would not be surprised if these two guns are nerfed to some capacity in the near future as well.

There is actually and STG44 loadout that you can build that makes it where you can kill your opponent in two-shots. This loadout is so overpowered that it actually has been banned in professional Call of Duty: Vanguard tournaments. The two biggest attachments that allow the STG44 to be so powerful is the .30 Russian Short 30 Round Mags and Vital Proficiency. This combination is deadly as both together increases range and damage and allows headshot damage to be dealt when hitting the upper chest area.

I would not be surprised that in the near future we hear that the STG44 and the MP40 have been slightly nerfed. The goal is to make Call of Duty: Vanguard as balanced as it can possibly get. You don’t want every weapon to be exactly as powerful as one another, but there has to be a balance that doesn’t allow weapons to be unfair either. The MP40 is basically as good as the STG44 except the STG44 is an Assault Rifle while the MP40 is a Submachine Gun. Each obviously have their pros and cons given the gun classification that they are a part of.

Be on the lookout for the shotgun nerf and any other possible weapon nerfs. Call of Duty video games go through nerfs every single year. I can guarantee you that we have not seen the end or heard the end of weapons being nerfed. Call of Duty: Vanguard is young and has only been out a few weeks. This is just the beginning and Sledgehammer Games is trying to do everything that they possibly can to make sure gamers have an enjoyable online experience.
