Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy: Can you buy the games separately?
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is set to launch today, November 11, for Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch. The highly anticipated package bundles three fan-favorite classics that have been remastered and reimagined for modern consoles: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. If you’re looking to play these classics, the GTA Trilogy will cost $59.99 as a bundle.
But what if you want to buy just one game?
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy: Can you buy each game individually or standalone?
Unfortunately, as of right now, it appears the only way to get these remastered games is to buy them as part of The Trilogy package. Rockstar hasn’t announced plans to sell GTA III, Vice City or San Andreas as standalone offerings; however, that could change in the future.
As Rockstar previously announced, GTA III – The Definitive Edition will be available for free on PlayStation Now starting December 7. Meanwhile, GTA: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition will be free on Xbox Game Pass starting on November 11.
So clearly these games exist and are playable outside of The Trilogy bundle. The question is if Rockstar will ever sell them as standalone titles. Given that the The Trilogy costs $59.99 as a package, Rockstar could theoretically sell each game at a standalone price of $19.99 and the math would work out.
All three of the games in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition have been updated for modern consoles with things like new lighting and environmental upgrades, high-resolution textures, increased draw distances and modern GTA 5-style controls. Other updates include improved gunplay and targeting controls, the ability to immediately restart a failed mission, updated mini-maps with enhanced navigation. improved water and weather effects and much more.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is only available digitally today, November 11, through the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Nintendo eShop and Rockstar Games Launcher. There will be a physical release for the Xbox Series X\S and Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on December 7.
