So, Nintendo decided to surprise everyone and drop the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 2.0 update early, catching me completely off guard. But I’m here to help you find what is likely the most requested part of the game, Brewster.

If you’re new to the Animal Crossing series, Brewster is, in short, the best. In long, he’s a green bespectacled, mustachioed pigeon that runs a coffee shop called The Roost. When you first encounter him, he is shy and aloof and you can simply use the place to purchase a coffee. But over time, he offers coffee options and starts to develop a friendship with you. Depending on which version of the game you’re playing ,you can even get a job at the Roost once your friendship fully blooms though, I have a hunch that won’t be in this version but I hope I’m wrong.

Anywho. How do you get the king of caffeine?

How to get Brewster and the Roost in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

First and foremost, and you need to do this in order or you’re going to have to wait a day, is you need to talk to Blathers at the museum. As long as your museum is fully opened, which means you needed to at least donate one item via diving in your diving suit, Blathers will tell you about how he’s thinking of adding a coffee shop but his friend is nowhere to be found.

It’s important you do that first because if you do the next step first you’re going to have to wait a real-life day until you can try this again so listen to me. Especially you. I know you and I know you’re skipping ahead.

After (and only after) you talk to Blathers, head to the peer and talk to the also newly added Kapp’n and take a boat tour to an island. If you did it correctly, no matter what island he takes you to, Brewster will be exploring it. Have a chat with him and you’ll eventually tell him about the coffee shop idea.

Do your stuff on the island (remembering you can only take one boat tour per day) and head back to the museum. You’ll let Blathers know that Brewster has agreed and he’ll get started on the necessary paperwork.

The following day the museum will be completely shut down for renovations, but then the day after, The Roost will be ready to go. So if you start today, you’ll have The Roost waiting for you by the weekend.
