Genshin Impact: Why you need to Wish for Staff of Homa and Elegy for the End in November 2021

Genshin Impact 2.2 features not only re-runs of fan favorite characters Tartaglia and Hu Tao, but two extremely powerful weapons together in the same weapon banner. Let’s a take a deep dive into this weapon banner and find out what makes the second 2.2 Epitome Invocation so great.
Genshin Impact: Why you need to Wish for Staff of Homa and Elegy for the End in November 2021
The highlight of this banner is the Staff of Homa. It’s not only Hu Tao’s best weapon, it’s also Zhongli’s best weapon. It’s also one fo the best polearms in the game, often coming in second to best-in-slot for almost every character. It does everything: it gives a massive CRIT DMG boost and a massive HP boost that it then converts into an ATK boost. Any polearm user can use Staff of Homa well.
Normally, the second weapon in this banner is sort of a dud. These more niche weapons are only as good as the character who wield them, but Elegy for the End is one of Venti’s best weapons, who himself is one of the game’s best units. It’s also great on Fischl, a character most players will have, and Ganyu, who is one of the game’s best DPS characters. All in all it’s a support weapon, but it’s a support weapon on more popular characters.
If you’re going all the way and trying to hit a five-star weapon this banner, these two fit a variety of characters that other weapon banner pools can’t match. The only banner that rivaled this one was actually Staff of Homa’s original run, which held Wolf’s Gravestone. However, the four-star weapons are really what fills out this meaty banner.
There are two new weapons here: Wavebreaker’s Fin and Mouun’s Moon. They have the same effect: they give an Elemental Burst DMG boost in increased proportionate the total Energy capacity of your team.
These are fantastic on characters who have powerful Elemental Bursts, like Raiden Shogun, Ganyu or Xiangling. Keep in mind that the polearm Wavebreaker’s Fin does nothing on Xiao, but other wise it has similar performance to The Catch.
Sacrificial Sword is also one of the game’s best Swords. You’ll want a few of these as this sword enables Xingqiu to become an absurdly powerful Burst support, especially for Hutao teams. Sacrificial Sword shines on character with long Skill cooldowns, like Xingqiu and Qiqi. and It’s also great as away to generate particles on Bennett, the Traveler and Kaeya.
The Widsith has less uses, but it’s still a good choice for Mona, Ningguang and other Catalyst attackers when refined.
The only real loser in this banner is the Rainslasher, which is just alright on Beidou or Razor and even some Vaporize builds of Diluc. It’s just quickly outclassed by other Claymores, especially the craftable ones. There are no Hydro claymore users yet, so the utility on Rainslasher is still low. That’s not to say it can’t be good in the future, but the mediocre Elemental Mastery substat is wasted on Electro characters currently.
Is it worth it?
I normally can’t recommend the Weapon Banner, as the odds are extremely rough for free-to-play and light spending players. This banner is as close as it gets to a decent value, especially if you don’t foresee yourself wanting Arataki Itto or Albedo in his rumored rerun in the near future.
If you have characters that can use either of the five-star featured weapons, I highly recommend rolling on this banner. Even if you miss the five-star weapon you want, you’ll walk away with a true bounty of great four-star weapons that enable and elevate a variety of characters.
