Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl: Which game should you buy?
Current Trends
Google Trends is a handy little tool the lets us type in two different search criteria and see how one is trending over the other. I’m going to create two fields. One is called “Brilliant Diamond” and one is called “Shining Pearl”. Let’s see what happens.
Almost 75% more people are looking up Brilliant Diamond than Shining Pearl. That’s a huge lead over the other. This is easily going to end up equating to more people snagging Brilliant Diamond than Shining Pearl. In fact, I’m willing to bet that if any Gamestop employees read this, they can look in their shipping manifest and tell me that they not only have more Diamonds preordered but they’re also having more shipped in general. (Seriously, Gamestop employees, I love you and I want to post this information, get at me).
And in some states the divide is incredible. Let’s check the state-by-state breakdown.
Idaho and New Mexico are the only two states where Pearl is looked at more than Diamond. And in states like Wyoming and Vermont and Alaska, the divide is 100% interest in Diamond and 0% Pearl. If you live in those states the value of Puruglys and Sheldons is going to skyrocket, especially considering that Pokemon Home won’t be compatible with those games until some time early to mid-2022 meaning people won’t be able to just transfer them from Pokemon Go.
So, in summation, the choice between the two games are entirely up to you and should probably be more based off what looks more interesting to you out of the two options. But if you’re torn between the two, go Pearl. The facts are in your favor.
