Nintendo Switch Online debuted a fascinating addition called the Expansion Pack. The Expansion Pack adds Nintendo 64 and SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis for the low cost of only $49.99 for an entire 12 month duration. You are also be able to play NES and SNES games with the Expansion Pack as well.

For Nintendo fans and SEGA fans this news was more than exciting. However, it appears that many Nintendo 64 video games on the Expansion Pack are experiencing some major issues including audio issues, un-synced online gameplay, input lag, and even frame rate issues.

The number of playable games within the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack is decently sized and definitely fan favorites for Nintendo fans. The fact that there have been this many issues is sad. At $49.99 for 12 months of usage, you would have hoped that things would have been great right out of the gate. However, that was not the case and these issues need to be fixed ASAP.

No games are fun when there are lag issues, frame rate issues, un-synced online gameplay, or when you are having audio issues. However, some games are completely unplayable if you have these issues.

Take Mario Tennis for example. Mario Tennis is coming to the Expansion Pack post-launch, but if these issues aren’t fixed imagine how hard it is going to be trying to return someone’s serve. It is not going to be easy is it?

You can also look at Mario Kart 64, which is currently playable as part of the Expansion Pack. Racing and throwing items becomes a little bit more difficult if lag/framerate issues throw off your timing. These games, along with so many more, are competitive and when you are facing a multitude of issues they become less competitive and less fun. Audio issues are no fun either, I can’t stand watching a TV show where the audio doesn’t match up with people talking, let alone playing a game with it.

The Nintendo Switch Online community is outraged and are hoping that these issues are fixed sooner rather than later given all the money gamers are shelling out for this new addition. These aren’t little issues we are talking about here, these a major issues that make the service unusable. Nintendo is aware of these issues and I can only assume that with all the backlash the Expansion Pack has been getting, this has to be on the top of their totem pole for things they want to get fixed ASAP. In the end, Nintendo really doesn’t have a choice.
