The PlayStation 5 was released on November 12, 2020. We are coming up on the one year anniversary of the console’s release. However, you may have noticed that it has become very rare to actually find one of these consoles in the store. That is because there have been a supply shortages along with an excessive amount of gamers trying to get their hands on this console.

People are selling PS5s for way more money than the market price, hoping to get some profit for gamers who simply cannot wait to buy the console in-store. Sony has created a registration for people in the US where you can register for a chance to buy a PS5 this holiday. The key word in that sentence is chance. Just because you register to purchase one, doesn’t mean that you will be selected for one. Invitations are limited so that means not everyone who registers will get a purchase option. Previous interests and PlayStation activities are some of the big factors that will play into receiving an invitation.

As far as registration goes, thats the easy part. All that you need to register is an email and a PSN ID. If you do happen to be one of the lucky people who get an invitation, those emails will be sent out starting in November. Attached to those emails will be a link to purchase a PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 digital console. Also, if you do get the email invitation, don’t procrastinate. The invitation won’t last forever and will eventually expire.
