Madden 22: Revamped Player Scouting arrives in Franchise Mode today
The revamped player scouting feature has finally arrived in Madden 22. With today’s title update, the eagerly awaited feature is now live, which means you can finally start your Franchise with the new system.
Unfortunately, if you already have a franchise going, the update will not apply the new scouting system to one in progress. You must restart if you want to experience all the new features.
EA has offered deep dives into the new Player Scouting feature but with today’s update they offered an in-depth walkthrough to give us a better idea as to how it will all come together.
Upon starting a new franchise, you’ll now see that you have a full scouting department. This includes four area scouts and one national scout. In week one, you can hire, fire and assign your five scouts to four regions of the map.
Each scout has positions of expertise and a tier from 1-3. When replacing a scout, you must replace them with another that has the same tier.
Your scouts will begin work in the preseason, gathering all of the information they can for every player in the year’s upcoming draft. In Week 1 of the regular season, you’ll see the top 450 players.
Throughout the season, you’ll be notified of scouting action items. There are multiple types of scouting at your disposal to help you learn more about players in the draft. General scouting gathers information on every player from that scout’s assigned region. Positional focused scouting collects details on a specific positions per region. Super focused and private workouts allow you to learn more about specific individual players.
The more specific the scouting process, the more detailed information you’ll get about a player. As you scout a player, you’ll uncover their traits and archetype, athletic ability ratings and technical skill ratings.
In the offseason, you’ll be able to see the combine and pro day performances for every prospect in that year’s draft. When a player is 100 percent scouted, you’ll uncover their true draft talent, giving you a better idea as to when you should select them.
Throughout the season, you’ll see five mock drafts that showcase what teams are interested in certain players based on their respective team needs and existing draft position. This will change over the course of the season as teams perform, sign players and lose players throughout free agency.
With the arrival of the new scouting feature in Madden 22, it is finally now safe to start your franchise. Let us know how you like the updated system!
