I’m pretty hyped after the latest PlayStation Showcase showed off both Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine games. It’s pretty big news for a Marvel dork like myself. I’d love to see more like this but I also think that there are a lot of characters that Marvel throws on the back burner that desperately need time to shine. And I mean as a big AAA game like Spider-Man and not some Match-3 or idle mobile game. I’m talking the real deal Holyfield.

So here are five characters I think would absolutely be…ahem…MARVELOUS. Thank you.

Nick Fury Jr.

For those who don’t know, there are two Nick Fury characters. There is the old-school one that was once played in a live-action movie by Baywatch’s David Hasslehoff and a member of the Howling Commandos.

Then there was Nick Fury Jr., a character originally designed as the Nick Fury of the Ultimate universe. He was based on Samuel L. Jackson, who became a character in the regular Marvel Comics, only retconned as the son of Nick Fury (who I believe is currently on the moon using the Watcher’s eyeballs because comics). Later, in a weird circular motion, portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson, the actor he was based off, in the Marvel Movies. We’re talking about Jr.

It’s pretty hard to imagine a Marvel game without Nick Fury in it in some capacity but he, himself, out of gacha games on mobile devices, hasn’t been a playable character since the exception Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 from way back in 2009. Why?

Give me a game with a Tom Clancy type feel where I have to play as Nick Fury infiltrating enemy bases, gathering information, and occasionally finding myself trapped in a warehouse with some powerful villain like the boss fights in a Deus Ex game.
